halloweening 2020

 Costume round up of 2020...  we've got:

1. Mimiku (obscure Pokemon)

2. Lucario (another Pokemon)

3. gigantic giraffe

4. beautiful ballerina

5. Scooby Doo (who shrunk in the wash? ... please note this costume is for a child considerably smaller than Jane)

6. a pumpkin

We did a costume parade and reverse trick-or-treating this year, where the kids got dressed up and we went to other people's houses to distribute candy. Among the cousins and friends, we also stopped at Nanny and Grandpa's to show off the costumes and pick up our Halloween sausage (doesn't everyone love sausage in their treat bag?). Then home, to enjoy pizza and a movie. Somehow, despite our lack of trick-or-treating, the kids still managed to accumulate giant bags of candy - how did this happen? So we're all set for the year.

First of many leaf piles this fall. I raked them up... these yahoos spread them out. We'll/I'll get this done eventually.

Pumpkin carving 2020. Always messy. Always fun. Always a little bit humbling when you realize you are not very good at carving pumpkins.

The day is finally here! Our sweet Annie received her First Communion today. She has been very patient, though disappointed after her special day was postponed in April. Now, six months later, here we are, so glad to celebrate, so glad that this One Thing never changes. Despite Covid, despite all the restrictions, despite a near-empty Church, Jesus is still here. And now Annie gets to participate in the Eucharist, and we pray she will always know His peace, His calm, His truth, and His presence, no matter what else is going on in the world. 

Hurray, Annie! You are lovely and delightful and I'm so happy we're here. 

last hurrah

Someone said it was 28 degrees today. Was it? I don't know - I didn't check But I do know it was de-lightful outside so we went to the park to play and run.
