happy birthday to this guy

The party was so great it was in two parts... one on Sunday with a Red Lobster feast, and the next on his birthday where we tried to create a fried fish feast (involved a lot of oil and burning and later Janie throwing up so maybe not so great... but still... party!). The important thing to remember is, we really love you, Daddy, and are grateful for all the ways you love us. We celebrate you every day (but just these two days with cake). Happy Birthday!

92% of the time... someone is doing this to Janie. She's just very huggable. Not always receptive but definitely worth the try.

My sister brought over some veggies from her fridge before she and her family left on vacation. I am confident this is what she wanted me to do with them.

happy vaLENTine's day

We celebrated yesterday... today we're all ashes and dust to dust over here. I sewed up some pouches for the kids, in which they can store my love for them (or pencils, whichever) but Grammie really knocked it out of the park with her goodie bags of books and t-shirts and candies and pokemon cards. We felt a lot of love.

Well, that was fun. Except for when the snow got in the mittens and the crying started. Otherwise, a beautiful, fun time.

bunk-a-lunk

This is happening...

A chain of events led to this premature step.
1. Henry's bed broke. (Hey, kids, don't jump on the beds. I think we told you that 2,573 times. For a reason.)
2. Henry needed a new bed.
3. So we gave him Annie's.
4. And then replaced Annie's bed with a bunk bed.
5. She's on the top bunk and Clara's on the bottom.
6. Clara's bed is still in the girls' room and ONE DAY will be Janie's bed.
7. The plan is for all three girls to bunk in one room, and Janie's room to become a place for their clothes and toys. Sleeping quarters and dressing quarters. Because we are very formal like that.

Anyway, we're not crazy and have no intention of taking Janie out of her crib any time soon. Containing at least one child is a good idea. In the meantime, the top bunk is a fun place to hang out and read.
