hello kantors

This day is long overdue... a Kantor family picnic with (almost) the whole crew. Big laughs (there always are), big hugs (a Kantor specialty), and big plans to do it again next year, and the year after that, and the year after that. It's good to be together.

chung-derful day

Summer isn't complete until we have a visit with the Chungs. Grateful for their fun and friendship (and competitive spirit when playing backyard games).

rule #1

No bums on the counter.

Things are going down hill fast this summer.

what the hill

Leo had a great idea today... let's run up a hill and then run down it. So we went to Bronte Provincial Park and did just that. And we also brought snacks. It pleased him so.

lettuce begin

Clara has had it on her summer bucket list to have a Salad Designing Competition, and today's the day! We gathered the toppings, sketched out our plans, and then had a timer keeping us on track to make our creations. We then presented our salad sensations to Clara, who judged and awarded the efforts. Exciting news - I came in first place! I won at a food-making competition! Because I make food every day... about time I get a trophy for it.

dig it

We were excited and happy to watch a couple of friends play volleyball in the Ontario Summer Games. This guy and his team took home bronze, and he's giving his mom the credit for being the driver and creating an awesome human. Congrats all around!

they're lily beautiful

I grew these! In my garden! Honestly required little effort on my part... in fact, I forgot I planted them. Just needed to stand back and watch them blossom. And they did not disappoint.

frozen brains

Celebratory post-swimming lessons slurpees. The ones the size of their heads were perhaps a bit ambitious.

curling up with a good look

Miss Annie and Miss Jane got their hair cut today but who cares about that because they also got their hair CURLED and that is way more important than anything. They loved their bouncy locks. Janie was especially tickled.

Jesus serves

Went for a date tonight at a yummy Mexican restaurant... and Jesus was there! This stained glass was in a  Catholic Church in Toronto that was deconsecrated. Now Jesus works here at Pro Vida, serving up his usual amounts of love and grace. Delicious.

oh my word

Today I realized that Joe has never played Scrabble. Corrected that immediately. And then beat him soundly.

(un)official visit

Today we welcomed Ontario's Lieutenant Governor over for afternoon refreshments, as you do.

Her Honour Elizabeth Dowdeswell was, in fact, not visiting each individual citizen of Ontario. Before her title, before her many civil service jobs and consulting projects, she was a university chum of my mom's. And so they got together for a visit at our house. It was a lovely and interesting afternoon of old friends reuniting.

we laked it a lot

Home from a few lovely, fun, rainy/sunny days at a cottage on High Lake in the Muskokas. We went with the Dhas family and Grammie and Papa, a trip to celebrate Dad's 78th birthday (...two years late... thanks, Covid). And while half the days were drizzly, the kids still hit the water, we still kayaked and fished, we still hung out and chatted and played games, and, we still read and rested, and we still just breathed in all the fresh air our noses possibly could. And when the sun came out, we did it all again. Now just saving up trillions of pennies so we can buy one of our one day and go there all the time. (Ha ha ha hardee har har... but it would be nice.)
