Today we celebrated Henry with Extended Family Birthday Time, and a Ninjago cake, and some prezzies. And some brotherly hugging (the hugging part was not necessarily well received) (but he did have fun at the party).

Today you are seven! You and your sweet dimple smiled at us all day long, all the way from breakfast doughnuts to late night ice cream cake. And we celebrate the delicious treats you bring to our family... like funny joking, silly giggling, music making, head bopping, basketball playing, good helping, awesome brothering, and constant cuddling.

You are one in a gazillion, Henry Francis. Happy Birthday!

Clara found this praying mantis on our front porch. It was blocking her way into the house... "I can't get past that green thing." I saved the day by ushering it into our bug catcher and keeping it for the big kids to see when they got home from school.

first days

And they're off! The boys started on Tuesday, grades 4 and 2, and Miss Annie started kindergarten today. The boys aren't convinced that going back to school is a great idea, but Annie had some pretty big smiles all summer just even thinking about her higher education.

And, hey, what about this guy? David started a new job on Tuesday, so he got a back-to-school picture, too.
