ava
Joe had a nice visit with Ava Chung today. They discussed books, mobility, rutabagas, and volleyball. They have a lot in common.

waterlogged
Joseph has been trying out water sports lately... a dip in Lily's pool (okay, well, his pool sat in Lily's pool... that way their pee won't mix) and then a Kantor Family visit to the sprinkle park (which Joseph tolerated but did not enjoy... please see lack of expression).

(Pouting in mom's arms and swing post-sprinkling.)

s+l=bbq
Thank you , Guevara Manns, for hosting the 5th or 6th annual Salt+ Light barbecue... fun and delicious as usual and so good to be in the company of our friends once again. New additions to the party this year included a group photo, Mass said by Fr. Chris, and a meeting of the minds between Joseph Kantor and Imogen Boudignon.
(Don't the pictures make it look like such a lovely, sunny day instead of the monsoon that it actually was?)

hush
It's a tip-toe-y, quiet kind of morning. Joseph is napping and the garden is growing.

We are working on sleeping right now... mostly for Joseph but consequently me and David too. We once upon a time had a baby who easily slept through the night. Then, almost two months ago, some switch got flicked and Joseph started waking up two, three, four times a night. We would rock him back to sleep, lay him down in his crib, tiptoe out of his room... and then immediately hear his cry. And it started all over again.
We were optimistic at first... things will get back to normal, we said. He will start to sleep through the night again. But they never did and he never did.
So now the Kantors are trying something new. A little less rocking, a little more convincing... and so far, so good.
It is so nice to see you again, sweet Sleep.

a whole lotta kantors
We spent our Sunday picnicking in the delicious company of many of the aunts, uncles, and cousins (and babies... many babies) of the Kantor family. Thank you, Auntie Susie, for sending all the emails to get us organized for this new family tradition. We look forward to the third Sunday in July for many, many, many years to come!

some things about seven
Joseph is seven months old today. And he weighs seventeen pounds, eight ounces, and is twenty-seven and a half inches long.
July is the seventh month.

shimmy shimmy shake shake
Just a few things to mention about this video...
1. Joseph does have toys. We don't just make him play with a trash can and bank statements.
2. His shirt has a normal t-shirt neckline. We don't usually dress him anything that plunging. It just stretches with the shimmy.
3. How exciting! Joseph can kind of crawl! Time to move a lot of things in our house!

twice the fun
Joseph met his new friends, Evan and Teya Midmer, on Saturday. He loved having a friend on the left and on the right... someone to look at everywhere you turn...

And this is us with our practice dog, Guilford.

Thanks, Val and Mike, for having us over. We look forward to future playdates!!
@ the movies
Joseph took us to the drive-in last night. We watched Ice Age and Wolverine. He slept. Kind of. We may wait until he is 5 before we do this again.

joe's swim club
It's just him. He's the only one who can fit in the pool. Plus, he skinny dips so that put a damper on membership.

sunday
Aaahhh... High Park. Beautiful and relaxing, especially on a lazy dazy Sunday afternoon. Thanks, Lise and Phil, for the invitation and for packing the best picnic food.
