merci

With our crew of ninjas and unicorns, we had a fun night of candy-gathering tonight. Janie quickly figured out what to do, and Clara smiled sweetly at every homeowner, offering a happy, "Merci!" for their gift of candy. "That's French," she would add. (I'm not sure why she thought Halloween was the night to bring out a new language but we went with it.)

Happy Halloween, everyone. Merci.

nanny hugs

sunday dinner

And my helpers. All little fingers remain intact... I was helping more than it looks.

Also, here are parts of my kitchen. Someday, I will take pictures of the whole thing but - fun fact - it's always messy. I'm waiting for it to (magically) not be messy before I photographically preserve it.

kantor-o-lanterns

This year's efforts... Annie was really into the guts, Joe continues to draw really tiny, complicated creations for us to cut out, Clara's pumpkin has a lot of eyes, Henry's was the spookiest, and Janie got tired of all of this business and lay down on the floor to have a nap. And in the end, we have a terrifying collection of jack-o-lanterns and a lot of pumpkin seeds to chew on.

this

Sometimes... sometimes in the midst of all the crazy and noise of our house... it gets quiet. And sometimes quiet is dangerous (hello, why are these soothers in the toilet?) but sometimes, maybe even most times, it means this is happening. And I love this.

These leaves were dragged over by the kids from our neighbour's house. Thanks, neighbour.

niagara falls, take 2

Now we are regulars at Niagara Falls. We were just there in the summer with our Swiss friends and now back again with cousins from Saskatchewan. Who are we? Do we have a season's pass or something? Do we own our own boat? Just another wild and crazy day with the Kantors.
