If you need us, we'll just be over here being a cautionary tale for something so obvious that it doesn't really require a cautionary tale. 

fifty is nifty

Fifty is nifty, and so is Andrea. Happy to have a night out with her to celebrate her upcoming 50th birthday! We went to see her favourite musician, William Prince. His songs and lyrics were so good that I cried through ninety percent of the performance. So, if you ever want someone to sit next to you sobbing on your birthday, I'm your gal.

Happy Birthday Party Day! Cousins came over today to celebrate Mr. Leo. For the occasion, Leo assigned Annie the job of making him a party hat and drew a picture of a cake for me to make. (Despite my best efforts to copy his drawing, he took a look at it and announced, "I wanted a lion." 0/2 in the cake department this year.) I think all other parts of the party went according to plan, including a menu of noodles, cucumbers, and cheese (with other things for other people who like to eat more than that). 

Hip hip hooray, Leo! We love you and all the plans you make and ideas you have, as tricky as they may be to accomplish.

Just over the moon to announce that my kids are all doing at-home learning today. Everyone was so thrilled about the asynchronous learning today and Monday, with the potential of moving to online instruction as of Tuesday, during CUPE contract negotiations. I mean, Clara actually is excited. She made herself teacher, set up a desk and a classroom, and brought herself an apple. But nobody else. Nobody else is happy about this.

Here are David and Joe, off to work. It's take your kid to work day for Grade 9 students, so Joe is all set to learn about geotechnical, hydrogeological, environmental, pavement, and materials testing services. I hope he takes notes.

Happy Birthday, Lee-lo! We're so happy to celebrate you! And while the day didn't go exactly according to your plan (not enough time to open all your prezzies before the kids had to leave for school, kids running around to get ready for the bus while you sat at the table by yourself - "(sigh) I'm lonely" - and a birthday cake whose top layer slid right off and hit the floor), you did get a robot and that was really your biggest dream. 

So, win some lose some but that's an important lesson in life. Might as well learn it when you're four.
