how i spent my first halloween

On Friday I went with Lily, Jonah, Auntie Andra, and Mum-mum-mum to the Tiny Tots Parade in Oakville. Other kids collected candy. I slept.

Then on Halloween day, I trick-or-treated at Nanny and Grandpa's house and Auntie Laura and Uncle Rob's house. I treated Joshua to some smooches.

Doesn't our house look inviting?

That's what we thought. But not many trick-or-treaters came. Except this bunch.

They weren't too rowdy so we gave them lots of treats. Now I'm enjoying my loot... cheerios, rice puffs, and fruit-y things. Any holiday where people give me food is a good idea.

This is Joseph genuflecting. He's a very pious boy.

Today was cousin Joshua's Baptism Day and we celebrated at St. Matthew's. Daddy and Auntie Julie are Joshie's godparents... which means Joshua will also be a very pious boy. After the Baptism came a party at Auntie Laura and Uncle Rob's, and what's a party without bunny ears.

that makes no sense

Three Cheers for David, who has the week off work! We are trying to do practical household things, like eliminate (ie. rearrange) boxes in our basement in preparation for turning the cement dungeon into a livable, breathable, and somewhat charming office-and-play space. But... we went to the United States of America instead. "Let's take a family holiday," we said. So off we drove to Lewiston for the day to Our Lady of Fatima Shrine.

Our idea was to have a nice, peaceful, good day with Joseph... to figure out road trips with a 10-month old and to make him both an international traveller and a pilgrim. But, said the Border Guard, in a way meant to trick us so we would confess ulterior motives, "Now why are you going to Our Lady of Fatima Shrine on a Tuesday... that makes no sense."

So here we are, making no sense. In the best way possible.

And those flowers were droopy before we got there. Joseph didn't do it.

... still fits. So we wear it around the house.

And this is Joseph reading books (in monkey hat, of course). I love that he likes books... he sits so nicely, turning pages and talking to himself. We will be regulars at the library.

check up

Jojo had a doctor's appointment today. All is well - he was pronounced healthy and happy.

Here are the stats:

1) his head is 18 inches around

2) he weighs 20 lbs 7 oz

3) he is 30.5 inches long... he grew 3 inches since his last visit and Dr. Graham is very excited about that... but she's not the one who is going to have to keep him in pants that fit.

(the scale says 20 lbs 7.5 oz... so I guess his diaper weighs in at 0.5 oz... and needs to be changed)

once upon a time

... this was the staff at Salt + Light Television...

But over the years, we have grown in size and experience and capacity for fun. We have produced series and documentaries and hosted live broadcasts. Beyond work, we have discerned and dated and married and had children. We have become good friends and have cheered each other on. And this is what we look like today...

See the bride and groom? That's Mary Rose and Richard... the greatest story they collaborated on at Salt + Light was this one... their love story. Congratulations... we are happy this day has arrived. (Finally... sheesh.)
