The girls made these two folks in our backyard on Wednesday, and we've been keeping a close eye on them as they slowly move closer together. Bets were being taken on whether they would (1) touch or (2) collapse. But as we watched, it became clear that these snow friends were falling for each other and, by Sunday night, had really made a beautiful connection. Oh, what a love story.

toboggan break
Today after school we slammed the books shut, threw on our snow pants, and headed to Bronte Provincial Park for some downhill fun. And I realize these pictures make it look like we were tobogganing on grass... that's how desperate we were for some outside fun... but I promise there really was more snow that what it looks like here. The hill was steeper and faster (and grassier) than what we've been used to, making for some extra tumbles and danger tricks. Leo got cold, and hated it. Janie crashed so hard her boot flew off, and hated it. But four out of six kids had fun so we'll call it a win. Bonus: cousin Josh and Auntie Laura met us there so we had a little bit of family fun.

snow day!
Buses were cancelled today (seriously... we got an email this morning telling us buses were cancelled) but e-school was still in session. So getting outside at recesses and lunchtime and after-school was a big must to enjoy this new fallen snow. Yippee!!

cake therapy
We hit a bit of a rut this Monday. From their respective corners of the house, everyone slugged through there school day, shutting down at 3:30 with bleary eyes and looking for a hug. I texted David and asked him if he could bring home something fun for dessert and - voila - an encouraging ice cream cake appeared. Keep going, kidlings. We will survive.

race day
It is a big deal around here when the boys let the girls place Mario Kart on their switch. And while Janie likes to be part of the action, she can't quite figure out the controller. So this is how she and Joe team up. IT IS STINKIN' CUTE.

crowded
Movie night. Everyone comes out to watch. And I mean everyone.
('m going to start charging admission for the stuffies to come to our movies. They take up a lot of space.)

the loo
Leo enjoys some privacy while doing his business. Sometimes he hides under the table. Sometimes he goes behind the curtains. But he always refuses to go to the actual bathroom.

outside
Fact: while chickadees and other wildlife are normally very good at social distancing, they are easily coerced by the offer of bird seed. And because they were eating, they weren't wearing masks. So this activity broke all sorts of covid rules.
