catch

It's a little tricky to tell here but... this is a picture of Joe and cousin Jonah playing catch... during a ball game. They're on the same team this year and making magic happen as a pitching/catching duo. (Well, this only happened once and who knows if they'll ever be playing these positions at the same time ever again but it was nice when it did happen.)

eye spy

Clara's boldly going with a different look here... trying to bring back the monocle. Her poor glasses met their demise on the school playground and, despite my best gluing efforts, I cannot get them to go back together again. I guess it's time to look for something new... I mean, if the monocle thing doesn't end up working.

field trips with my buddy

We like a good adventure, the two of us. Just a quick morning at Bronte Prov Park to run up a hill and down a hill, check out gnome road, and play in the barn. And then home in time for lunch.

big little leagues

This is what it looks like when your mom is pretending to take a picture of you, but she's really going to tell you that you made the Little League rep team that you've been trying out for...

So Henry's pretty excited to be a member of the Oakville Whitecaps, the tournament team for Little League. The commitment means he's at the diamonds most nights and will be at tournaments for most of the summer. It's a family decision, because it will mean sacrifices and weekends apart and watching a lot of baseball, but we're really excited to see Henry embrace this opportunity. He's working so hard and making the most of each moment - I'm so thrilled to watch him do this. Let's go, Henry - we're cheering so hard for you!

sprinkles

Leo and Jane enjoying the freezing cold freedom of some sprinkler-jumping. If you like leaping, sunshine, and frigid waters pelting your face, then this is the sport for you.

day trip

This is Annie's field trip to Crawford Lake, and I got to tag along. We hiked, learned about Longhouse living, played some lacrosse, and giggled with friends (Annie did more of the giggling; I did more of the supervising).

i-twin-tical

Well, this is what we're doing now, I guess. We dress alike now. This will be our thing.

pockets of time

Leo likes to stand around with his hands in his pockets. So does Grandpa.

pleased to announce

It's a little hard to tell from this picture, but that's the back of Henry's head and, on the computer screen, is Matt Devlin, announcer for the Toronto Raptors. Henry and another kid from his school had the opportunity for a Zoom meeting with Devlin for a special project set up by one of their teachers. The boys had a list of questions and were thrilled when he stuck with them on the call past their time limit to make sure they had all the answers and heard all the stories. It was devlinitely a pretty great day.

tricksters

A little Sunday night jumpolining... these peoples have no fear when it comes to a good old flip.

trio

So nice for Joe to have his friends over... so he could demolish them in badminton. Look at those poor guys.

Anyway, one of this trio is moving to Texas this summer and we are all blue about that. They've been a good band of buddies since Grade 1 and we will miss him and his family a lot. Also looking up how long it takes to drive to Texas...

camption this

We've been missing our Henry the last few days... he was away with his class for their year end camping trip. He reported a great time and amazing food and his eyes really lit up when he talked about the unlimited access to the cafeteria's juice dispenser. So glad he had a great time being independent with his buddies, but also so glad they're not too big to fall asleep on the bus ride home.

down in the umps

When your brother comes home from his umping gig to find you playing baseball in the backyard... then you get your own personal ump. Guaranteed you will argue every single one of his calls and it will end in a fight.

famous craft words

Got to go with Janie and her class on their field trip today and, as far as field trips go, this one was awesome. I mean, the 15 minute bus ride to the rec centre was loud and bananas, but the actual field trip that involved woodshop and clay-sculpting... that was amazing. This bunch of 6- and 7-year-olds knocked out some creative and intricate craftings and were so thrilled when they got to operate a hand saw all by themselves. It was a fun day... and then back on the bus for 15 more minutes of bananas.

P.S. favourite kid on the field trip - besides Janer - was the boy who sat across from me at lunch and ate an entire pack of twirlers and a bag of dill pickle chips. And that was it. That was lunch.

Hugged and smooched and blessed and honoured by this gang today. Really grateful to be their mumsies.

proud mama

These are my children, fighting over who gets to be the "I" in kind.

These are also my children. One is demonstrating his cheering method and the other is pouting because she didn't get her own Powerade.

yay!

Excited to announce that Annie made the junior girls basketball team at her school, becoming the first Kantor kid to ever make any team they have ever tried out for in elementary school. Quite the honour. So here she is - made the team, practiced once, had two games on one night, and now the season is over. That's fine. We'll take what we can get.

Annie's team won a game and lost a game. Annie scored a basket and was so excited she followed it up with a, "YAY!" and a star jump in the air. Cutest on court celebration I've ever seen.

Post basket, post star jump high five!
