can't live with them

I've had crazy roommates in my time but these are the worst. They listen to loud music after supper and dance around the kitchen tossing about bubbles from the kitchen sink. And then they leave.

blue me away

Leo and I decided to paint the living room blue. We are, ultimately, pleased with our decision. Although Leo has requested that I stop making changes to the house.

top of the morning

Happy St. Paddy's! Here are some green smoothies (served with a wee Irish accent) to celebrate.

And then later... we went to a St. Patrick's Day concert featuring the fiddling family of Natalie MacMaster and Donnell Leahy. The music (and the speed at which they play it) was amazing. Leo was into it (until he wasn't... then he was tired and grumpy), Annie would like to play the piano that fast, eyes were alight, and hands were clapping. Such a fun night... what luck.

feline good

While we're on March break and other people are on holidays, we're looking after their cats. Annie and Co. picked up a couple of cat-sitting jobs so we head on over every day to feed, scoop litter, play, and in some cases (mine!), sneeze.

makers

Today we made:

  • paper mâché faces
  • Chinese food

It was a busy day. With a lot of kitchen clean up.

activation

First day of March break and a snow hill all to ourselves. We'll take it. Followed by an afternoon session at Activate where we ran around, climbed up walls, stomped on lights, scooted over and under lasers, and threw balls at a target (disclaimer: not everyone accomplished tasks with the same degree of success). A good start to the week. Let's go!

pretty great

Well hello there. Today is my birthday and I got this awesome bunnyhug with a brief tutorial on what bunnyhugs are (thanks to my mom and dad).

The day was a treat, as birthdays are. I was spoiled with cards and doughnuts and fluffy snow. Then we ran around in a gym, ate sushi and Thai food, and enjoyed a big cake with wishes for a beautiful year ahead. If it's anything like the day I just had, with these people around me, it should be pretty great.

This picture makes me think of this birthday classic...

work hours

Just over here momming sick kids and trying to write a book. It's fine. It will be fine. Going to be a great book.

draw your attention

Joe spends many/all of his spare moments drawing. This video was an assignment for school and, I think, he imagines with glee all the drawings he could create if only he could draw this fast in real life.

spirited

Today, in a gloriously full and sunny Church, Henry celebrated the Sacrament of Confirmation. This guy was ready. He had been diligently reading and preparing and entered into the day with a willingness to love the faith, protect the faith, proclaim the faith. With Auntie Laura as his sponsor, he happily and readily received the gifts of the Spirit and stepped forward in his love for the faith of our Church. He chose the confirmation name Benedict, after St. Benedict Joseph Labre, patron Saint of the homeless. The poor and homeless are often in Henry's prayers and he used the gifts of money from grandparents to buy food for and donate to a local food bank.

We are so grateful for Henry's thoughtful, pure, and giving heart. How exciting to watch him go where the Spirit leads. We love you, Henry.

"This is my son, the beloved, with whom I am well pleased." (Matthew 3:17)

And then we went bowling. Because that's where the Holy Spirit led.
