Today we celebrate David, our number one guy. And though the party and the day was pretty low-key, the level excitement exhibited by those under 6' tall was not - they were all so happy to make the day special for their daddy, and so we ate well and played well and filled our day well. One day we will have big parties with other people... until then, we're just making our own. 

Happy Birthday, David! We love you.

This is a happy day. After a year-and-a-half of no ball, the boys started a clinic today in hopes to get warmed up for a 2021 season. Please, please, please, let there be a season.

Our Churches reopened yesterday, but we weren't fast enough to get a spot for Ash Wednesday Mass. So home Mass once again, with our own distribution of ashes, made from two-year-old palms that I burned in our kitchen sink nearly starting a house fire. This is DIY Ash Wednesday, but it worked.

snow day!

Our 3-day long Family Day weekend turned into a 4-day long Family Day weekend with a big dump of snow last night. Kids were thrilled, even though we made them shovel our driveway. And Nanny and Grandpa's driveway. And dig through all the chunks of snow the snowplow left. The reward were the burgers Grandpa bought us for lunch, some toboggan time at Bronte Provincial Park, and pancakes for supper for Shrove Tuesday. Anyway, here are pictures of Joe and Henry being happy that it's a snow day...

day of the family

Today is Family Day. Not to be confused with every other day this past year that we spent as a family.

So our activities du jour included:

1. giving Leo a haircut. David did it. I helped by standing in the doorway and cringing. 

2. building a snow fort.

3. playing board games.

4. more playing in snow.

5. eating sushi.

If we were to rate the day, snow and sushi would take top place, with Leo's new haircut coming in dead last. (David gave it his best efforts, even watching a youtube video before he started. I feel like my commentary probably didn't help as much as I thought it would. Sorry, Leo!)

Now off we go, to spend more time together as a family. 

you're cool, valentine

Alternate title: I only have ice for you, Valentine.

We celebrated our sweet valentines on ice today, taking the kids skating with the Dhas family. It was a lovely love day.

winter walking

We've had some lovely, awesome, fluffy snow yesterday and today, and frolicking in it was a must. Leo, Janie, and I had a fun winter walk on Friday, and we decided to take the rest of them along with us on Saturday night. Walking in the dark: fun. Walking in the dark AND snow: magical.
