helmet head

Nothing funnier than a good ol' diaper on the head.
(disclaimer: not an old diaper... this was a clean diaper)

no complaints here

Friday night...
Joe: Hey, Mom, can Henry and I make pancakes tomorrow morning?
Me: Uh, yes. That should be fine.

Saturday morning...

winter update

Hi there. Hello. Not much going on here. Just this (cute) face, demonstrating our general mood about January and the cold but no snow any more so it's not even fun. We're just here, doing our stuff. And that's pretty much it.

that's better

We had a proper snowfall today, about time.

Five of six kids enjoyed it. Leo tolerated it. After a while, he just gave up and let the snow cover him up.

Leo is a repeat of Annie. In boy form, with bad sleeping habits.

2020 pilgrimmage

First family adventure of 2020... a trip to Our Lady of Fatima Shrine in NY, and then supper at The Olive Garden. Our parade was, literally, rained on the whole time. But prayers in the chapels, plus a tonne of olives in the salad at supper, made it totally worth it.

puzzling

I bought a 1000-piece Charlie Brown puzzle for some holiday relaxing and family togetherness. It was... neither of those things. Turns out I suffer from Obsessive Puzzle Disorder. I can't just put a few pieces together, wander away, and leisurely return to happily put together a couple more pieces. No. I want the whole thing together right now because, otherwise, it just sits there, staring, taunting. So I gave up the care of my children and worked on the puzzle all by myself. I did have Joe's help for a while but, after the faces ad Charlie Brown bodies were put together, he left me with the snow and sky. And, I'm proud to announce, it's done. And now I can move on with my life.

make work project

Here's Leo, helping Mommy with an unnecessary project, wherein I switch the dining room with the living room. By helping, I mean he is not napping and sitting on the furniture I am trying to move.

waiting

Everyone's gone back to school and we miss them so we shall just sit here like lumps in the slushy snow until they return.

ski bunnies

Joe and Henry were in a ski camp over the holidays, so they wouldn't forget that they learned to ski last Christmas holiday. I decided to join them for a day of skiing, so I wouldn't forget that I skied once 17 years ago. I would say I had a fun time skiing with the boys but, really, I had a fun time riding the chair lift with the boys before they zipped down the hill and I did slow zig zags, to meet up with them 10 minutes later. In the end, I did not break a leg and neither did they and everyone had fun (except, maybe, for the dad and daughter duo who I knocked down while attempting to get off the chairlift. But that's another story.).

par-tay, 2020 edition

A wild party last night with some crazy kids. First, we gathered small children around a pot of boiling oil with spearlike forks for a fun, not dangerous, fondue meal. Then watched some episodes of Family Feud, and wrapped up the night with a glow stick dance party. To bed by 10 p.m., otherwise known as New Years somewhere in the middle of the Atlantic Ocean. Happy 2020 everyone!!
