You know what a fun thing to do with your teens and tweens is? This. This is a fun thing to do with your teens and tweens. Get really messy in a 5K Foam Fest run. 

This was my birthday present (in March) - David registered me and the three bigger kids - and it was the best birthday present I've ever been given. Time and mess and bubbles and an inflatable slide called the Death Drop. I'm so happy these are my people and these are the things we get to do and these are the smiles on their faces. It's pretty awesome.

sask comes to visit

And this was the happiest surprise of our summer... when we got a text from friends asking what we're doing at the end of August and would we be around when they drove through on their way from Saskatoon to Ottawa. Yes! Indeed we will be! For how long?! Please stay forever!

So this was how we spent our last three days... visiting and running and wandering and watching ball and talking until 2 a.m. with our Molyneux friends. The days and conversation spent together filled up our hearts and made for some of our favourite days this summer. It was the best, most happy gift.

dude, perfect

Also earlier this summer... Joe and Henry finally got to enjoy their Christmas present: tickets to the Dude Perfect show in Toronto at Scotiabank Arena! It was amazing and fun and funny... as was the drive to get them there... Joe and David went in to the show on time but I "raced" Henry there following a baseball game. Unfortunately... Beyonce was also in town... and she really slowed up traffic. Henry and I abandoned the van and ran the last 2k to the arena to get him there for the second half of the show. But some is better than none and the big boys had a great time. Dude, it was perfect.

Earlier this summer, Henry had a fun chance to be an extra in a baseball movie being filmed in Oakville. After his day's work (and David's, too - he had to chaperone Henry but ended up in the bleachers as a fan), we can't wait to see him on the big screen for 0.23 seconds. He's going to be a star!

whatever floats your boat

Took some time to float our boats down the Grand River today with the awesome Chung family. We floated in the calm bits, hit some rough waters, stalked Karen the Heron, ate a picnic, swam in the current, and enjoyed the company. Leo sang the ENTIRE WAY and  it was a glorious summer day (if you like the soundtrack of a boisterous four-year-old).
