Okay, so I'm not sure we're "ready" but we are waiting.

10 whole years ago
This is what happened 10 years ago today... it was the last day of World Youth Day 2002 in Toronto and, after the most exhausting week of my life, I was blessed by this awesome man. An incredible day and an incredible end to a very intense, significant, and powerful time of my life...
Now, 10 years later, this is what we did... got together with some of the people who were part of that intense, significant, and powerful time of my life. We had good visits and catch-ups, but there are still so many more people I would have loved to have seen... wherever they are, I hope they had a happy day of remembering, too.

and then it rained
Finally. And thank goodness for that. It has been so hot and dry here that both our garden and our children were starting to wilt.

we are making...
... cherry sorbet. And it is awesome.
See? Everyone agrees.
Next on the list... chocolate ice cream.

look at that
We went on a date night! We don't date very often, unless you count Friday nights on the couch with a movie but - heck, why not? - let's count those, too. In which case, we date all the time. But on Saturday night we actually went out, where other people roam, to dinner and a movie. The boys were having a Practice Sleepover at Nanny and Grandpa's (practice for when we go to the hospital to have a baby and the boys have to sleep at someone else's house by themselves for the first time ever) so we decided to make the most of it. And it was fun and delicious and entertaining. My, how we spoil ourselves.
p.s. the boys did fine sleeping at Nanny and Grandpa's and probably did not need practice.

saint henry
This morning, David's mom called to wish Henry a happy name day. And at that precise moment, this is what my St. Henry was doing...
So the weather is hot but we're enjoying water activities in the backyard. Some like it a bit more messy than others (although, Joe informs me, this is a picture of him so very messy). We would be very grateful for some rain and cooler days... especially this 8-month pregnant momma with puffalump ankles. But in the meantime, water activities it is.

go team kantor
We took a family fun day (ie. Daddy took a day off work) and we went to Centre Island. From the ferry there, to the rides, to the picnic lunch, to the cool down at the beach, to the naps on the drive home... it was an awesome day. I highly recommend taking a family fun day. I'm trying to convince David that we need another one... tomorrow.

34 weeks
(Okay... it's really 35 weeks. Don't tell Baby that I'm already behind in capturing his or her memories.)

this fresh perspective brought to you by Joseph Kantor
While sampling the lemon cupcakes I had just made/accidentally burned:
"Mommy, I don't think they are burned. They just have this black stuff on them."
Thank you, Joseph.

quilty goodness
Baby quilts are - check - done. Why baby quilts? Because I couldn't decide which pattern to make... so I made both. In the end, one will be for Baby and one will be for Baby's Friend (coming to our friends in October). I will let Baby choose which one he or she wants and which one he or she wants to give his or her friend.
These quilts are made from linen and I was a bit worried they would be too stiff and scratchy but, once washed, oh they are delightfully soft. Baby and Friend will think they are being wrapped up in clouds.

progress report
The garden is growing... not as well as we hoped. Our beans and peas aren't doing as well as they did in last year's teeny-tiny garden and we'll probably only get a few... which may be a blessing in disguise. Because who has time to pick and blanche beans when they are in the hospital giving birth?
sprinkles
I took these boys to the sprinkle park today to meet up with Auntie and Lily and Jonah and Baby Gaby. They loved it last year but for some reason, today, they weren't into it so much. They liked running around, playing in the park, and having a picnic lunch, but they managed to stay pretty dry. Joe even complained that a kid "was trying to spray me with water." And the most wet Henry got was on our way home when he dumped his water cup all over himself in the car.
Then, tonight, in the back yard, this happens.
Seems they are very particular about when and where sprinkling is okay. Backyard: yes. Public arena: no.

oh canada
Happy Birthday Canada!
To celebrate you, we:
went to Bronte Harbour
met up with the Dhas family
fell asleep in the stroller
ate ice cream
bounced in castles
made the long walk home
and fell asleep in the wagon
All in all, Canada, you are fun and exhausting.
