Spent the afternoon with old S+L friends, and the kids enjoyed whacking the same pinata they have been whacking for three? four? years now. And I enjoyed whacking away at good, long overdue conversation.

Had some summer fun with our friends at a (not quite) halfway meeting point. We love catching up with these people, and I'm especially grateful because the grown-ups of their family introduced the grown-ups of this family to each other.

To our surprise, it turned out pretty tasty. I mean, we're not impressing any Japanese sushi artists or anything, but it was good to our ages 2- to 43-year-old standards.

We knocked another thing off our summer list... yurting! And it was so good. Four days camping at Charleston Lake Provincial Park with our people - swimming, hiking, canoeing, marshmallowing, catching fireflies, identifying ticks (that part was not fun), eating sand (that was just Jane), playing Uno, learning to speak Loon, hiking up the hill to the bathroom, going to bed late, dunking kids in the water, just being. Holidays are good. The laundry after a holiday is a bit overwhelming. But holidays are still good.
