over west

That's where we were and it was good. We had two weeks in Saskatchewan and spent a lot of time at the park, and at the pool, and at the Frosty Treat, and with the cousins, and on the couch with books and Grammie, and in the field. The kids would bound toward Papa as we met him in the field and they got to be expert combine riders. We loved the meals in the field picnics (our enthusiasm did not rub off on Grammie, unfortunately. I think when you're the one in charge of the picnic day after day after endless days, it's not as fun). And they just ran and ran in the big open space of the prairies.

Joe got down from his first combine ride and announced, "Maybe someday I will move to Shaunavon and become a farmer."

And, while watching the combine empty it's load into the grain cart, Clara exclaimed, "Hey! Somebody is dumping dirt out of that compost!"

So, there's promise there for a future still in Saskatchewan. But, also, we have a lot to learn.

In the meantime, it's fun to pretend we're farmers.
