Anything with the cousins, really. Especially playing loud games in Grammie and Papa's basement. But every once in a while, we encourage the games move outside to give everyone else a quiet break.

summer fun things: my kids want a pet

This cat showed up at Grammie's house, and my kids wanted to keep it. We didn't. But maybe Grammie did after we left?

summer fun things: lawnmower races

Perhaps the most ridiculous, hilarious, and interesting event we've ever attended. Souped up lawnmowers racing around a dusty track is oddly captivating. We're encouraging Grammie to enter her lawnmower next year.

summer fun things: parade

Always arrange your visits home around the weekend of the parade. That way your kids can collect tonnes of bubble gum, which I will make them give to Auntie Michelle. And, also, a small town parade is fun, especially when your cousins are in it, whacking candy at you with hockey sticks.

Parade was followed by a Cousin Meeting. Grown-ups will be sneered at.

summer fun things: cypress hills

We are creatures of habit, and going to Cypress Hills is a habit (a good one). The kids look forward to the yearly summer visit to Cypress for these highlights:
- a walk
- roastig hot dogs
- mini-golf
- ice cream
- the beach
- lookout point
- Mommy takes pictures of everything
