Janie has begun some pretty intense jump training in the jolly jumper / jumpy joller. She's not going to play that ridiculous ball game on the trampoline but she does want to get out there with everyone else.

Welcome back to Danger Games with the Kantor kids. This one involves jumping on the trampoline with about 30 balls of various shapes and sizes bouncing around underfoot. Jane's not yet five months old and even she knows someone is going to break an ankle.

And with all those people off to school, Jane is finding it pretty quiet around here. Clara is still in her face but there are fewer hands poking and prodding and where are all the people?! She's on nap strike until they come back.

And now off go Joe and Henry! On the bus, to the same school, to grades three and one, French Immersion. There was a lot of grumbling on the part of Joe, who told me he wasn't going to school, especially on the bus. I told him he would have to move to Saskatchewan to work on the farm. And, lo, here's Joe, ready for school.

Henry's eager to learn some French, and to practice the made-up words he already knows. No nerves on his part... he just wants to go and get started already. And also to use the green water bottle. That's pretty important.

ANNIE IS GOING TO SCHOOL!!

(title in all caps because she is that excited)

Today was Annie's first day of school. She is a student at Forest Grove Preschool Academy of Arts and Technology and should come away from that with a degree in something. Although, she only attends Tuesday and Thursday mornings, so that might hold her back a little. Anyway, she loves it and told me she wished her teacher was her mommy. So. That's nice.

At supper tonight she was bubbling over with excitement to tell everyone about her day. "So does anyone have any questions? To ask me? About my first day of school?" And when she told us all her stories, she was ready to celebrate. "Are we having something special for dessert? Because it was my first day of school?" (We did.)

I'm excited for all she's going to learn and do. She's excited for homework. Yay school!

We spent our last day of summer holidays in our backyard. It was a good day. It was a good summer. Our RV expedition took up most of July and I was worried I was a bit unprepared with how we were going to spend our August days. But visits to the library, a few field trips, some family adventures, and a lot of running around the backyard and jumping on the trampoline made the days speed by. And now it's back to school. Henry's excited, Annie's super excited. Joe is grumpy about it. And I'll admit I'm kind of siding with Joe on this one. I'll miss the lazy and the good of summer days.
