six months

Joseph is half-a-year! He celebrated his half-birthday on the farm by wearing overalls and sitting up all by himself. Happy Half!

three cheers

... for the Molyneux family.

They are great friends... the kind of friends who take days off work, pack up their kids and trailer, drive all the way to Shaunavon, and vacation in a little park, all so they can witness the baptism of our son.

We are glad, we are grateful, that you are those kinds of friends.

father, son, and holy spirit

Our Joseph William Gerald was baptized today. We were really happy to have his baptism at Christ the King Parish in Shaunavon, where I was once baptized (not in the same Church building but with the same Church community). The Sacrament is special all on its own, but the day was made particularly great because:
1) cousin Kaycee was also baptized.
2) Joseph has three wonderful godparents... our friends, Cary and Sandy Molyneux, and Joseph's cousin Rebecca Hansen. We know they will be good spiritual witnesses in his life.
3) Fr. Rick, the parish priest, is a good and kind priest. As Ireland says, "He is a nice man."
4) Joseph was really attentive during the baptism... looking at Fr. Rick while he poured the holy water over his head, and trying to grab the lit baptismal candle.
5) And then he fell asleep. Which is great.
6) And all the while, he was wearing the baptismal gown that David wore when he was baptized.

Happy Baptism Day, Joseph! We promise to do our best to teach you about God and His Son. We will share with you our faith and the teachings of the Catholic Church. And we hope that, as you grow, you will always know how much Jesus loves you.

dandelions

There are no pictures of Joseph in this entry... just cousins and dandelions... a happy, summer-y combination.

This is Kaycee, Joseph's cousin. She is beautiful and funny and we were so happy to meet her. So was she.
