rv living - day twenty-two

Day Twenty-Two
Kenmare, ND to Lake Bemidji State Park, MN
625 km
Depart - 10:30 a.m.  Arrive - 8:00 p.m.

We woke up today not really knowing where we were. We didn't look for a state park the previous night... just an RV park off the highway. So we found ourselves in Kenmare, ND, population - just us, it would seem. To bed late and up early, to make it to a 9 a.m. Mass where we stood out as the youngest people by years. Thankfully, the kids were too tired to be loud and the carpet and cushion-y pews absorbed any noise we did make. The priest greeted us after Mass with such enthusiasm that I felt badly we weren't going to register as parishioners. Anyway, fortified by that, we were off on another day of driving. We stopped in Minot for groceries, a few roadside stops for bathroom breaks, and then into the land of lakes and our stop for the night at Lake Bemidji. Another beautiful park, this one with a store where we let the kids each pick out a souvenir. Stuffies were the gifts of choice and after what seemed like hours... Joe and Henry picked out fish, Annie a duck, Clara a conservation girl, and Jane a white-tail deer. I find the sight of the boys with foot-long fish tucked under their arms kind of funny. Sweet dreams, Kantor kids and wildlife.

North Dakota used to have a lot of mosquitoes. But then we killed them with our RV. You're welcome, North Dakota.

Do you know where the geographical centre of North America is? Rugby, North Dakota, that's where.

A picture of a tank, my kids, and their personalities.

And... we're there. Daily intake of marshmallows before bed - check.
