rv living - day twenty-four

Day Twenty-Four
Lake Gogebic State Park, MI to Ostego Lake State Park, MI
573 km
Depart - 9:30 a.m.  Arrive - 8:00 p.m.

Today I realized my true calling - duck photography. I've only included a few here but there are many, many more. I will explore this niche market later but, for today, we are driving through more Michigan. A peaceful, beautiful start to the day at Lake Gogebic, and, once on the road, stops at Agave Falls and the Upper Peninsula Children's Museum in Marquette. The Falls, though highly recommended, weren't as amazing as we hoped. The Children's Museum, however, was more amazing than we had time for. Rooms seemed to go on forever and each had something cooler than the other. A cockpit. A control tower. An intestine slide. A giant toilet. A weather broadcast station. The kids had a super time and we could barely keep track of them. I mean, I could hear them. I just couldn't always see them.

Once we rounded them up from the museum, we headed to Ostego Lake State Park. We got there just as the sun was about to set and, admittedly, were a bit disappointed with the dusty campsite after our waterfront glory the night before... until... we went down to the beach. Even though it was late and we should have been making supper, we ran down to the beach and the kids went straight into the water, clothes and all. The warm water, the shallow beach, the dipping sun... irresistible. And in a move the kids labelled, "Mommy Finally Loses It," I ran in, too. Felt so good. This would be our last night camping, our last night in the in the RV, so we needed to make the most of it. Which, of course, means more marshmallows.
