Ready or not, here we go. Fingers crossed this is a good idea...

and we laughed and laughed and laughed

I can't quite remember who said what, but it was so, so funny.

god save the queen

How we spent our Victoria Day (besides honouring the monarchy, of course): playing in the sprinkler. The end.

nanny and grandpa's

It's a good place to be. They love us and feed us and read to us (well, not to me... I can read my own books) and help us and take good care of us. Thank you, Nanny and Grandpa.

That's how Henry spells it, and this is how Henry plays it. He's in flag football this spring and he loves it. Me, too. I told him if there was flag football for mommies, I would be all over that. But until that happens (probably never), I'm glad to watch Henry. He runs and smiles, and smiles and runs. And he's pretty confident he'll be playing for the Saskatchewan Roughriders next year. He's that awesome.

miss clara

This is Clara. She is sweet and cute and stomps around and charms us with her smile. But what is going on with her sleep. Gee whiz. She once went to sleep with the snap of a finger but, now, she prefers standing in her crib and screaming between the hours of 8 and 10. Fun for everyone, especially Annie, who shares the room. Everyone likes to think/tell us/judge us for being stupid not to realize that it's because we had a baby. Anyway, to quote my brother, who didn't come up with the phrase but says it a lot, "it is what it is." We had a baby, and now Clara won't sleep. And so now we just need to figure out how to make bedtime happy again. Any suggestions?

Sometimes (and by "sometimes" I mean "every day") we are in a crazy rush to get out the door and show up for school on time. Lots of people with lots of hair to comb and noses to wipe and teeth to brush. And maybe we should change out of our pajamas. But you know what helps that crazy rush a bit?

A seven-year-old. He gets ready all by himself and then hangs out with Jane. It helps to yell, "hurry! hurry!" at only three kids instead of five. Thanks, Joe.

We have a few. Some don't mind.

one month

Already! Jane is one month old already. She's still so small and squishy, but definitely becoming more alert and pudgy. Everyone's in love.

And for this month, the kids decided to make her a peacock. Ta da! (Next month, Joe wants her to be coral reef? Not sure how that's going to work.)

Jane went outside today. She loved it.

we tried...

... to do a mother's day picture today. And, like many things with five kids, it was a bit crazy. Here we are.

we have other kids

You may have forgotten, because Jane hogs all the pictures. But here are some pictures of the other kids who live in this house.

And then Jane's right back to hogging the pictures. And looking so smug about it.
