david's birthday!!

David is 42! His birthday was yesterday!! Here are all the fun and amazing things we did to celebrate him...

That's it. Nothing. We didn't do anything awesome because five of us were sick and sleeping in random places throughout our house. David, the sixth person, was healthy and well and spent his birthday looking after the rest of us. We did manage to get up from our couches and beds tonight to sing him happy birthday with a small cake/mostly icing that David's parents brought over. And then we went back to bed. I believe Annie's face says it all.

a sad but true Canadian story

The boys got sleds for Christmas but this is the most snow we've had to use them.

clara and baby

She likes to say "bebe" and pat my belly, but she really has no idea what's coming.

well, would you look at that

18 months. It can be done. Sometimes. When she wants to.

Clara moved into Annie's room. With just two more months until Baby 5 comes, the eviction notice had been posted and we figured we might as well try to move the girls in together now, to try to settle into some sort of happy routine long before another person moves into the house. So far, it's a bit of a gong show.

For a while now, Annie has been getting up in the middle of the night and needing/begging/demanding/fit-throwing that Mommy come sleep in her bed. The same thing used to happen with a two-year-old Joe but, once we moved Henry into his room, that all stopped. Another person being there seemed to help him. Well, all my kids must be exactly the same, I so wisely thought, so moving Clara in with Annie will surely be the way to cure her of midnight wake ups. Ha ha ha ha.

Now both girls wake up. So fun!

Anyway, we'll work our way through this. We will. In the meantime, sisterly love and all that. It's cute during the daytime.

30 weeks

I'm sorry, Baby 5. You are already the least photographed child in this house. Everyone else got weekly pregnancy progress photos... you're getting random shots here and there, mostly with your siblings photo bombing them. Anyway, to make up for that, I told myself I'm going to take a picture of you every day from now until the day you are born. That could be anywhere between 60 and 80 photos so... I'm sure that will convince you that you are my favourite.

I will point out, however, that part of this "least photographed" business is not my fault. I've been to three ultrasounds for you (turns out you're a bit stubborn and not interested in accommodating sonographer requests) and have just two tiny pictures to show for it. At one appointment, the ultrasound technician seemed surprised that I asked for a picture, then said "oh, I don't even have a printer." She said she would print something out from the office computer and then brought me an ultrasound picture that didn't have any of my information or measurements printed on it, as ALL ultrasound photos do. What? Is this even my baby? Or was this just an utrasound.jpg pic she found on her desktop?

And then, at the next ultrasound appointment, you kind of looked more blobby and not so much baby. Anyway, I trust you will come out looking very squishy and sweet and delightful AND THEN I will take a million pictures of you, promise.

He likes to read. I like to watch him. That's not creepy, right?
