We carved our pumpkins (five... one for each kidling... although Clara and Baby 5 didn't really participate) and did our trick-or-treating. Thanks, Halloween 2015 - you were fun.

And now, introducing - a pumpkin, a ladybug, Superman, and a stegosaurus.

a leafly day

(That was supposed to be a pun for 'lovely.' That may not have worked. Did it?)

The weather was good this weekend for yard cleanup and general outdoor frolicking. This is us frolicking.

great pumpkin

Can we pass these pumpkins off as our own? They're not. That would be a lie. We took the kids to the RBG for a walk along their pumpkin trail... over 200 jack-o-lanterns that the kids want to replicate for our own. Ha ha. Probably won't happen. We'll stick with the classic triangle eyes.

okay, blue jays

All right, team. We've let our kids stay up late. We've moved dinners in front of the tv. The boys have sat still for longer than I ever thought possible. I find myself jumping up and down in front of the television. We've really enjoyed this. So please let's keep going? Let's play ball.

welcome home, finn mcmissile

Well, look who's back in our house. It's Finn McMissile. This guy has been on vacation since July to who-knows-where. On our return flight from Saskatchewan this summer, Finn got left on the plane, along with a bag full of Henry's favourite planes and hot wheels cars and random other in-flight necessities. It was no one's fault, really. That was one of the hardest flights we've ever had, with a two-hour delay and David and me carrying sleeping children off the plane when we finally reached Toronto and no eyes available to do our last-minute check for left items. So the next morning when the boys discovered they toys were gone, we filed a lost item claim with Air Canada, followed up a couple of times in the next few weeks, and then figured we needed to let go of the idea of those toys ever coming back. A bit heart-breaking for Henry and Joe but toys are toys and what can you do.

Well, if you ever lose an item with Air Canada, give it maybe three to four months. That trip to the mailbox today was a complete surprise and Henry was so happy to be reunited with his pals. If only we could get Finn McMissile to talk, it would be nice to know where he was these last few months. How come your return address was Montreal, Finn?

things about this picture

1. We do not have a selfie stick.
2. David has long arms.
3. We do not call this a "selfie." It's a team photo.
4. Doesn't it look like there's room for more?
5. Because there will be more.

Watch for the team photo in April when there's another person in it...

fall is nice

A beautiful day today. So we went out for a hike. Unfortunately... a few sickies in the crowd didn't want to walk. But we did our best, enjoyed the sunshine for a while, went home, and flaked out on the couch to watch the Blue Jays game.

Happy Thanksgiving, part 2!

giving thanks

We had a huge turkey, a mountain of potatoes, so much stuffing, volumes of veggies, and piles of pie. And it was so good. And we have leftovers!

Happy Thanksgiving!

The girls helped me farm today... harvesting the last of our garden and taking out the plants. And eating dirt.

apples of my eye

We picked apples today... but the best ones we've got are the big ones named Joe, Henry, Annie, and Clara. Apples of my eye, indeed. Aaawwwww. Isn't that sweet? But also true.

birthday par-tay

Happy Birthday, Henry! We got to celebrate today with the family and a football cake. His highlights include (1) the perogies we ate for supper, (2) the cake we ate for dessert, and (3) the Superman pajamas he got as a present.

We celebrate you every day, Henry. We're just extra glad for the days we get to celebrate with perogies and cake.

annie and danny

We got to visit Tante Cheese and her baby today. We were so excited to cuddle this little fellow... technically, he's still supposed to be inside Tante Cheese... he's due around Thanksgiving... but he decided to come in August instead. So it was so lovely to hold such a teeny weeny baby... please see Annie's face for just how lovely it was.

piano lessons

Joe started piano lessons a couple of weeks ago. And now he's playing recognizable songs. He's pretty pleased.

sick day

Henry started the day by throwing up (awesome) so he stayed home from school and played football instead.

stair climber

This is where Clara likes to sit. That's safe for babies, to hang out on the stairs, right?
