Henry's solution for what to do when you want to wear shorts but your mom makes you wear pants.

high five

Ladies and gentlemen - Henry Kantor is five. Here he is, all five years of him. He's rather matter-of-fact about it - being five doesn't feel much different than four - but he's also pretty smiley about it. He had a fun day of generous prezzies, smoothies and waffles, school, bowling, Mcdonalds, and birthday cupcakes. And he grinned pretty much all day long.

Happy Birthday, Henry Kantor. We love you.

(Joe is fine here... he just accidentally poked his own finger into his eye.)

good morning!

This cheery greeting brought to you by the air bubbles in my morning smoothie.

the girls at home

Well, here we are. The girls at home while the boys are at school. And while we do have some fun, it's not all skipping and butterflies (that's what Annie's pretending to be... a butterfly... that may not have been clear). I wish it was just skipping and butterflies. But... it's driving and drop-offs and racing to get through the grocery store to get home in time for Clara's morning nap only to wake her up 45 minutes later so she'll be ready for the afternoon nap so I can wake her up from that so we can start school pick-up. And in between there's snacktime and playtime and lunchtime and choretime. Phew-f.

We're just three weeks in to this school schedule, so we have some time to work out some kinks. There are a lot of kinks. Just not enough skipping and butterflies.

excuse me

Could someone please move this gate? It's in Clara's way. She would like to climb the stairs.

we need to...

... work on our naptime scheduling in between school drop-offs and pick-ups. Poor Clara is having a hard time getting through her day.

henry's turn!

Kindergarten! Henry started today! He took his teacher's hand, gave me a sweet little wave, and that was that. My feelings weren't hurt and my spirit wasn't crushed at all. His report at the end of the day was that some of the kids were already friends so he just played by himself (that broke my heart a little) but then he talked about all the cool toys he played with and sounded quite happy and satisfied with his day. Except, "we didn't do much learning." Maybe tomorrow.

here we go

First day. Joe's off to St. Mary's for grade two. He got dressed and ate breakfast and got himself out the door, all the while telling me he wasn't going to school. So, with that mixed message, we jumped in the van and drove off. He did great and, when I picked him up, he told me more about his first day of grade two than he did the entire year of grade one.

Also who loves his camouflage socks? Me.

last hurrah

This is it. Last weekend of the summer. And even though it's September, it's hawt. So off we go to Beachway Park in Burlington. And why didn't we go here more often? A beach, with fun waves, and awesome sand, 20 minutes from our house? Why is it labour day weekend and not Canada Day weekend and why can't we start summer all over again? Boooo.

Bye Summer. This was fun.The Kantors love you. So please stay.
