first snow of the season

grammie and papa

Reading books and Papa at the kids' table. We love your visits.

green is the colour

We had a combo birthday/Grey Cup party on Sunday. Happy Birthdays Lily, Andrea, and Gabriel! How nice of the Riders to win for you on your special day. And thanks, Auntie Chelle, for the t-shirts.

we knew these people were coming

Next arrival: Mom and Dad. This visit wasn't a surprise... a happy plan all along. We bowled and celebrated birthdays, and watched the Grey Cup. Also read stories, cuddled on the couch, and played in the snow. Full visit. Won't you please come for Christmas, Grammie and Papa?

well, that was a surprise

Look who showed up at my house on Friday - the Hansen ladies. We were having a leisurely, still-in-our-pajamas kind of PA day when there was a knock on the door. I peeked out from a second floor window, saw that it was Andrea, and told Joe to run and get the door for Jonah. But instead? There were Becca and Michelle. Joe was confused. So was I. But very happily so.

And off to go dress shopping we went. (Not the boys, though. BORING. They spend the afternoon with Uncle Binu.) See, a long time ago, we had a plan for Becca and Michelle to visit and shop for Beck's graduation dress. But that weekend got taken up with other things so this visit was indefinitely postponed - maybe for Dec. 6/7? Or, unbeknownst to me, a little earlier. Anyway, off we went. And it was fun and lovely and frilly and Becca got the most gorgeous dress (Michelle may have cried. Others may have as well). Anyway, you can't see the dress until June (it's blacked out in the picture below... I'm sure Becca appreciates that photo.)

Hey Hansen ladies, anytime you want to surprise us by coming for a visit, that's fine with me. Please feel free to bring Matt and Al, and Jason and Paige and all of theirs.

See you Dec. 6/7?

Love from all of us.

in the good books

We went to the Santa Claus parade today and Santa called Annie a "sweetheart." So things are looking good for us this year - woohoo!

this boy

He offers to help with the dishes, he rakes leaves all by himself, and he was awarded Student of the Month at school.

He's a nice little fellow.

walkie talkie

That's exactly what Annie's up to: marching around the house, pointing in random directions, and giving orders about one thing or another that only she can understand. I've already shared my concern with David that she is going to be a bit of a bossypants.

Anyway, here is a picture of her neither walking nor talking. She is showing off her muscles. I'm not sure where she thinks her muscles are.

sleepover

Not really. Their parents came to get them before the whole night was through. But here's what we did on our pretend sleepover.

Movie supper.

Flashlight dance party (as chaotic and dangerous as it looks/sounds).

Storytime.

Five monkeys in a bed (well, two beds pushed together).

We had fun! And we're excited to do it again! But maybe no flashlight dance party next time.

can I have my picture taken now?

Doesn't everybody wake up from their nap, go into the bathroom, and request a photo? No? Just Henry, then?

timber

Our Ash tree came down today. Neither the house nor any of our helping helpers were injured during the activities.

Thanks, helpers. Sorry, tree.
