and this

She's also doing this... here we go!

part of the team

Annie is very keen to participate.

Is it possible to lift your arms right out of their sockets? If so, she is going to do that.

quiet time

How Joe occupies himself when I'm putting Henry and Annie down for afternoon naps.

Sometimes he writes epistles in Word. Sometimes he tries to figure out Excel. Sometimes he plays with the Photobooth. He is a computer wizard.

take a hike

Our Saturday afternoon looked like this. Relaxing? Sure. Except for the part where the trail we were on looks straight over a cliff with no hand rails. Great idea, parents.

the 5 o'clock crazies

It's this face, accompanied by rapid head shakes and high-pitched audio. Please come on by for full effect.

party people

We celebrated our May long weekend with an overnight visit with our good, fun friends, the "Moynihansens." *

We loved:  hot-tubbing // kite-flying // studying bubble-blowing mechanisms // hanging out in the dandelions // playing (ahem, on the Ipad) at the park // making friends and comparing hairstyles.

The grown-ups also loved all those things, plus staying up late to talk (uninterrupted!). Thanks, Moynihansens, for the good time. Next up: more of the same in Oakville, anytime!

* Name changed because that's what Henry thinks they're called.

garden day

Today was a beautiful and beautifully busy day outside. The backyard is green and growing and the boys are enjoying the blissful freedom of running in circles.  We had a nice visit with Henry's godfather, Greg. And see that picture of David opening up a box? That box is filled with awesome, and more pictures of that to come soon.

his idea

I left a fully-clothed Henry on the counter so he could wash his dirty feet, while I checked on my napping Annie. This is what I came back to...

How Annie gets about...

momma's day

Guess who got breakfast in bed?

And here are Annie and me, using that giant centre piece as a backdrop.

And how to cuddle with your boys on mother's day? Watch a movie, thankyouverymuch.

The day was good and I am really, really, really blessed. Yeehaw!

oh happy day

We were very happy to attend the wedding of our friend James and his beautiful bride Tracy on Saturday. We met James in 2008 in his hometown of Sydney, Australia, when were there for World Youth Day. He knew I worked for a Catholic television station and asked many, many, many questions about the work and vision and people until we finally connected him with Fr. Tom. James came to Toronto in November of that same year to begin work with S+L and, soon after, met Tracy. And though we only played that teeny-tiny role in his coming to Toronto, James singled us out in his thank you speech to say we were the reason he came to Toronto and, without us, may not have met his bride. And humbling, how lovely that was... five years ago, David and I laboured over this decision to go to Australia and what it could mean for us... meanwhile, God was just moving us around, all part of another plan for these two to meet.

We are so, so happy to have celebrated with them yesterday and to be cheering for them in their married life.

... plus, we won this table centre piece to take home. Isn't it awesome and ridiculous?

... also, we don't go out very often, just the two of us. Don't we look excited to be out?

... and this is what it looks like to carry a gigantic centre piece to underground parking.

gardeners

We took a trip to the garden centre on Friday (was more exciting for some, than others... see Henry below) and are excited to start planting our garden. On the list this year: pole beans, cauliflower, carrots, peppers, tomatoes, corn, potatoes, peas, and I can't remember what else. If the harvest isn't abundant, at the very least it sounds like a delicious soup.

Joe borrowed my camera while we were there. "I just can't stop taking pictures!" he kept shouting. Here are some of the best...

Happy belated birthday! The quilt is done (but not yet in the mail... one step at a time)!

Here she is... all 21 beautiful pounds of her.

windows

He's a very good helper. Windows were, admittedly, a bit streaky but the effort was there. With sunglasses, no less.

spring!

Annie loves it! 20+ degrees today and we soaked up the warmth in our backyard for most of the day. AND those are our winter coats hanging on the line. Arrivederci, winter.
