happy birthday papa!

We know your birthday day has passed, but now you are HERE and we can celebrate with you!

We are so excited that you and Grammie are here for the whole month of February! All of it! We have lots to do so let's get started! (over use of exclamation marks indicates our excitement!!)

snow people

That's a snow boy and a snow mama (and Joe in the middle). Sadly, the next day, they were but puddles and a pile of rocks on our grass (with the exception of Joe... he was fine).

mommies' night out

For some wedding re-hashing and some birthday celebrating. We may have also purchased chickens. Thanks, Lisel.

snow day

The fluffy kind. Not good for snowmen but  perfect for shovelling.

hey babies

The Kantors met Dejan Chung today. There is little cuter in this world than two babies propped up next to each other, whilst their parents pretend they are holding hands and chatting. * sigh * Oh, babies.

What secrets could they possibly have, those babies?

she likes her lips

he's a better neighbour than I

This is the note to our next door neighbour that Joe dictated to me...

It was all his idea. "Let's make a loaf of bread and take it to a neighbour's house!" I told him that was a really nice idea and asked him which neighbour. He picked the house to the left, home to Rose and her family. Good pick. She is so friendly and smiley and she takes in our mail when we're not home. Also, she works with kids, so was probably (hopefully?) not alarmed by Joe's declaration of love for her.

And today... we went out to shovel our driveway. Joe helped for a little bit, then shouted, "Let's shovel a neighbour's driveway!" Have at it Joe - pick any driveway on the street. So he went to the neighbour on the right and started working away. He did the front half of the driveway, in an interesting circular pattern and let me finish the rest in a boring, straight pattern. I'm sure these neighbours wondered what happened to their driveway while they were at work... hopefully the tiny boot prints gave it away.

Anyway, I love Joe and I love how he loves his neighbours.

annie rolls

And by that I mean the action, not the description. But, lordy-be, she's got those, too. As one lady at Church told me, "Oh, she's thriving."

Anyway, rolling. She started Tuesday. Practiced daily. Documented Saturday. Here she be.

squirrely

We made squirrel houses! Well, we made structures out of graham crackers, pretzels, and popcorn kernels fused together with peanut butter in hopes that squirrels and birds would partake. We left them out around supper time (after squirrel bed time, apparently) and then waited for our friends to find them for breakfast. Do squirrels even like these things? I didn't know but hoped that I wasn't inadvertently inviting raccoons to inhabit our backyard.

Anyway, good news. No raccoons and, yes indeed, squirrels enjoy those things. At one point I looked out the window to see a very plump squirrel dragging the entire tinfoil plate across the backyard. Enjoy, squirrels.
