the chief

In case of fire, don't call here. The truck is only made of cardboard, the wheels had fallen off by the end of the night, and the flashing light wasn't so reliable. Also the siren (supplied by Joe himself) sounded more like a train.

But in case of free candy giveaways, yes, call here. He seemed to enjoy that part.

Meanwhile... Henry was a police car. A very sleepy police car.

Can you tell we recently moved and have a surplus of boxes?

sit. stay.

Nope. We didn't get a dog. This one is Keer, belonging to the Moynihans (though Henry clearly seems to have taken control with the commands). We had a long overdue visit with our friends this past weekend and were grateful for their invitation to sit and stay a while. It meant learning a very involved and point-driven card game, drinking lots of coke, and throwing some good conversation in between my requests for clarification on the aforementioned involved and point-driven card game. Thanks, Moynihans.

we are all in love

... with Baby Emilie. We're so happy to have met her this morning and given hugs and high fives to Mama and Dad. She is beautiful.

Joe looks pretty serious in his picture but he was quite insistent on holding her and guarding her from Henry. He kept patting her arms and legs, whispering (which he NEVER does, even when we ask him to... some moments just call for it, I guess), "No, Henry, you just touch her like this. So soft." Aw. Break my heart.

birthday boys

So... it's a month since Henry's birthday and a month-and-a-half to Joe's birthday. Perfect time for a party, yes? Yes. We decided that it was. There are a lot of Kantors born in the latter half of the year, which means a lot of parties... so we cheated and combined our boys' birthdays, sticking the party somewhere in the middle.

The result... this:

we played in the backyard
we toasted Grandma
we ate and ate and ate
pigs in a blanket and chocolate milk
and we ate that cake... poor fireman did not see that coming.

new life

This weekend we were so happy to hear the news of two babes coming into this world...
Emilie Francine, to Lise and Phil
and Maeyer Eloise, to Devonna and Justin

We're excited to meet these little ladies and give cuddles and smooches and such. Or just high fives, if that's all they are comfortable with.

And we're also celebrating this lovely lady...

... David's grandma, Annie Kantor, who, after 89 years, was called to her heavenly reward on Saturday morning. Oh, we will miss her and all of her cuddles and smooches and such, but we are so blessed to have had her for all those years and now watching out for us from above. We really, really love you, Grandma.

saturday night

This would account for about two hours of my life...

It's for Joe and Henry... more on that to come.

les pommes

It is a rainy, windy, and cold day... let's spend it outside, picking apples. But we were all troopers and the boys had fun running up and down the rows of apple trees. And the reward for being good - delicious, hot soup and two guys falling asleep in the car on the way home. Amen.

feeding time

It really does feel like a zoo sometimes.

ten and two

He's an excellent driver... very good at checking his mirrors and such.

smiley guy

The second one... this is the face he makes when extra excited about something... like sausages or chocolate milk.

party time

It was a good time. Thanks to all who celebrated with Henry today - he is a happy, lucky boy to be so loved.
