happy birthday grammie!

We were so happy to celebrate with you! We shall celebrate you again on your actual birthday, but just from further away. No spitting on the cake next time.

movie night

It was a Barbie movie, in case you're wondering why everyone looks so riveted.

sweet as syrup

That's what a visit from Papa and Grammie is like... sweet, sweet, sweet. We were happy to have them with us this weekend and treated them to some time out in the cold at the Bronte Creek Maple Syrup Festival. Nothing says, "We love you, Grammie and Papa!" like grandkids hyped up on maple syrup.

hello spring!

We're so glad you're here! We've started our daily pilgrimage to the park and can't wait to get working in the backyard. Joseph really wants to dig up some worms.

dear godparents

Thank you for the Jesus figure you gave Joseph for Christmas.

Yup, we are so grateful to have this Jesus in our lives. He has been awesome at helping Joe go to sleep at night, put himself back to sleep in the middle of the night, and settle down for naptime. I only said it once to Joe - "If you have trouble falling asleep, just ask Jesus to help you" - and ever since then, he insists on taking Jesus to bed with him, wrapped up in his little fist. Sometimes, in the middle of the night, Jesus gets lost in the sheets or falls out of bed. In the morning, Joe then reports the status of Jesus' whereabouts: I lost Jesus... I found Jesus... Daddy found Jesus... Jesus fell in the crack. All interesting soundbites on their own. Then Jesus goes back on the shelf or sometimes sits in a tractor, watching as we play and read and go on with our day. He is a helpful guy.

So thank you for giving us Jesus.

The Kantors (and their Jesus)

How did I get here, you ask? That's right - I rolled.

We love how Joe loves them. In his two years, he has been blessed to know my Grandma Pat and David's Grandma Kantor. And now while we pray for Great-Grandma Pat in heaven, we are so glad to have Great-Grandma Kantor to visit and hug. Watching Joseph march into her room and greet her with a "Hi Great-Grandma!" even before the rest of us got off the elevator, and then make himself comfortable in her lap, makes me so glad. Grandmas have the best love - and cuddles - to give.

I could watch this again and again and again.

I wanted a birthday photo with my boys. Joe wanted to fix my hair. Henry wanted to be done with this. We all won in the end.

like this

Joe is teaching Henry how to jump. Training is going okay, though Henry loses interest quickly and is pretty loud about it. Joseph remains determined.

the kitchen is open

... a big day... Henry's first food. His longing stare while we eat made us feel so guilty that, today, I caved and gave him some banana. He smiled. And so it begins.

As for Joe, he enjoyed his usual.

... is so much easier when you can sit.

"Good job, Henry!" Joseph told him. (Although... Joe is free-wheeling with the compliments... he also told me, "Good job, Mommy!" when I vacuumed today. And when I made lunch. And when I sent an email.)
